    Default .22LR pistol or revolver

Can I get some suggestions on inexpensive pistols or revolvers? I would like something a bit cheaper for plinking. I had a High-Standard years ago, but was stupid and sold it. I check the classified posts every once in a while, but there's not many there or the seller is too far away.

The top 2 recommendations will probably be a Ruger MKIII 22/45 or a Walther P-22.

Both are a hoot to shoot. I have a Ruger and a friend has the Walther. We shoot them more than our larger caliber handguns.

You can't go wrong with either of them.

I have the walther p22, ruger mk3 bull barrel, taurus 9 shot revolver.

    p22 seems a little junkie.

I like the ruger- it's solid.

Taurus, doesn't fire every time. Light strikes? -

    +1 on what PisnNapalm said.

The P-22 is eaiser to field strip than the Ruger but the Ruger will be a little more accurate.

    Take your pick.

I would go with a Ruger Mk ll or a Neos, but thats just because I already know both, for rev I would look into a Single Six or the new Ruger 101 In .22

For a revolver, I have a S&W 317 3" kit gun 8-shot with the hi-vis front sight. Accurate, very light weight, and a blast to shoot. Find the Federals (bulk) as the most accurate. Several thousand rounds and no problems.

The Ruger Super Single Six is also a fun gun to shoot if you like SA revolvers. Plus you can shoot 22 Mags from it if you need a little more umpf. I have a S&W 422 I got about 17 years ago and it shoots great, a real nice little pistol.

I wish Ruger made a 8 or 9 shot 22 (or 22 Mag) in the GP100 frame. I would have one in an instant.

    Sig Mosquito.
The early ones had some issues, but the new ones seem to be fine.

as far as Semi Auto 22 goes, either P22, MkIII, or Smitty Model 22A.

I had 22/45, and had nothing but probrem with it. But was impressively accurate when it did work.

I should have bought MkIII when I had chance to buy one cheap, and I didn't. Kick my arse for it everytime I think about it.

As far as P22 goes, My GF loves P22. I did spent some money to get few things worked out, but its not really accurate(for being 22LR anyway), and like someone stated above, its not as well made/thought out as Ruger 22.
Its fun plinker, yes. Target gun, its not.

Smity Model 22A cost tiny bit more, but its well made, and just as accurate as MkIII. and Very reliable. And MUCH easier to take apart and to put it back(22/45 was little nightmarish to put it back)
So my next 22 would be either MkIII or 22A.
(what I really want is 6" standard in Stainless. But not available in MkIII. I think it was available in MkII. So i would have to settle for either 5.5" Bull barel in SS or Hunter model with 6 7/8" barrel...)
