    Default Taurus .22LR/.22 WMR revolver

    I've seen an article featured about the Taurus .22LR/.22 WMR revolver on the cover of American Rifleman magazine. Dumb question, but what is .22 WMR ammo and what does WMR stand for? This revolver has cylinders that can be exchanged for either/or type of .22 ammo.

    WMR = Winchester Magnum Rimfire.

    It is a longer cartridge versus the Long Rifle. The bullet is seated differently, and the case diameter is larger.

    You mean this beauty? I just happened to have this page open when I saw this thread. My girlfriend and I were thinking about getting a couple. It's time for me to move on from the Ruger Mark l. This could be the gun!! Never fired a 22magnum before.

    Sometimes I will shoot LR with no hearing protection. Not so with the magnum. They are loud and have a decent size muzzle flash out of a shorter barrel. The Taurus 990 would definitely provide this muzzle flash.
    BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

    The WMR has about twice the energy and about twice the range of a regular 22lr, its a different Dog.

    I have 3 WMR guns a Marlin 883 a Taurus 941 and a Heritage combo kit. Great round that . WMR.

    Often referred to simply as ".22 Magnum"

    Ruger makes the Single Six which can be bought with a second cylinder for .22wmr.

    I gotta admit... The older I get the more appealing revolvers are to me.

    My father has that Taurus. Nice little gun. Has a decent weight to it and fires nice. He bought the stainless version and put a set of hogue grips on it. Looks like a full size revolver. He carries it in his truck loaded with the 22 magnums.
