Kicked out of walmart twice for OC... Another Corp ordeal.
Well, it happened for me again. And less than a week after ending the ordeal with McDonalds on the matter of OC...
Unfortunately I have been very tired and busy lately with work and keeping the hormonal girlfriend happy. That being said, the following events actually took place nearly a month and a half ago. Regardless, I know the members here who OC enjoy hearing when we win our battles against corporate America. lol
I apologize ahead of time because while my write up of the McDonalds ordeal was very comprehensive, this took place much longer ago and had around 9 different phone conversations and in-store conversations with management and corporate. Needless to say, I can't remember every conversation word for word but I will attempt to give a good overview / summary of the entire encounter. Sorry Understand however, most of you here probably know from my previous encounters that I do alot of explaining the laws and informing and teaching about OC as much as I can, especially during encounters and that I did so during each and every conversation throughout this ordeal.
A few weeks back I went to Walmart to pick up my GF. On my way to the back of the store to meet up with her once she clocked out so I could walk her out of the store, I was stopped by two managers and after being asked if the black thing on my hip was a gun and if I was a cop, I was escorted out of a store which I had literally OC'd in around 120 times without any negative encounters. (While I didn't say it, I wanted to respond to the "is that a gun?" question with "nope, it's a bullet dispenser" but figured they wouldn't see the humor
The only thing I was repeatedly told by the two managers while asking for a copy of their policy or who I could speak to was to "call corporate" and so, I did as soon as I went out to my car. It went as follows;
I explained what had happened and my situation to the woman on the phone and was repeatedly apologized to and assured that they would have someone call me to rectify the situation. I was pleased with that and figured the situation would be over.
I went back in CC this time with my GF wearing her pink with white lettering "SUCK MY GLOCK" shirt on and went about finishing my shopping. No one approached me and I left without further incident.
To my surprise, the next day I was called by a manager who I talked to for about 20 minutes about OC and it being legal and that I was allowed to do it and what the policy was. Long story short, she wasn't from corporate and was bias against weapons since her husband had (from what I got out of the conversation) killed himself with his 30-06 and kept attempting to find a way to get me to agree to cover up my pistol in their store. Dumbest part was that she was the sporting goods manager and can't stand being around 30-06's
That night, I was sent on a "craving run" by the GF and figured I'd OC since the woman from corporate said that I was allowed the night before. I did my shopping and headed out to my car without any problems but when I got to my car and began talking to two friends that I saw in the parking lot, on of the employees that I know came out and informed me that the manager was trying to catch up to me before I left so that she could kick me out again.... Ok...
I decided to walk back in with my friends to do two things;
1. See if the employee was being truthful.
2. To explain to the manager that corporate AND one of their managers had told me that I was allowed to OC.
I didn't even make it back to the sporting goods dept. before the manager appeared in front of me saying "I thought we dealt with this yesterday, you can't have that in here and you need to leave!" I attempted to explain that corporate told me I was allowed and explained why I OC but she would have none of it and escorted me out of the store anyway. What got me though, is that she told me that she had talked with corporate that morning and they had told her that I wasn't allowed to OC. Ok... someone is getting lied to here....
I called corporate the next day and informed them of the second incident (and I believe that I talked to the same woman) and was again apologized to but informed that stores are allowed to decide whether or not to allow OC. This was certainly news to me and I'm sure many of you too. I was however promised that I would be called by the district manager to clear things up for good and that if that didn't work, I was to call them back so that I could be put into direct contact with the regional manager to make sure things would be settled. (I'm guessing at that point for the better portion of our state at the least lol)
I accepted this and looked forward to the call so that I could put this headache behind me. (not that it really bothered me but between this and McDonalds I had been fighting the "Pro-OC" fight for about a month and was getting tired of talking to corporate and managers lol)
Anyway, I went for the next 6 days without talking to anyone from management or corporate but hearing from my GF about the fact that the ordeal had apparently sparked a huge debate among the employees of the Walmart and that probably 75% of them were on the Pro-ME side of the debate lol
I also found out that I should talk to the store manager as he could dictate a yes or no answer on the OC policy for the store. On the 7th day, I went in to pick up my GF and she took me to see the store manager who had finally gotten back from a vacation and I had a pleasant conversation with him. He told me that OC was fine in his store and that he had made sure to inform his staff of that fact and that OC was legal. He and I talked for about a half hour on the issue and it was actually one of the better conversations (besides the McDonalds corporate owner who offered me free food which I still haven't received lol) that I have ever had with a manager on the OC issue.
Here I am weeks later and I have been OC'ing every time I don't have a coat on in the store and I haven't had any issue. I've also seen the two mangers that had kicked me out the two times and they just give me this "I just caught the stomach flu virus" look (see Kat Williams on youtube for the analogy) every time they see me. I am guessing they got a pretty good reaming since I never got a call from the district manger and I'm guessing it's because the store manager called him or was called by him and they wanted to settle the issue before I continued to push it further up the chain...
There were a few other small conversations but nothing amazing enough to put in here to bore you further. I apologize for the long post but figure this is better that one four times the length detailing every single conversation word for word so that you fall asleep twice reading through it. Hope this goes over everything and if there is anything you would like further detail on, please feel free to ask and I'll explain further.
Hope this finds everyone well and you enjoy reading about the encounter and another win for Open Carry!
P.S. Sinemetu6172 (my girlfriend) was fighting for the OC cause during the arguments and discussions at work about the issue and for that, I'm giving her credit as well. She deserves it! lolNever underestimate the stupidity of your fellow human. Always carry a weapon!

Sounds to me like you kept your head pretty well through all this. I've never been "walked" out of any place, least of all a WalMart, and you had it happen twice!
Have you ever been face-to-face with the chucklehead who escorted you out?
Anyway, very interesting story, at least it ended well. It sucks that this kind of crap is happening at all in York County, but I'm beginning to think it's a good thing it is happening to you! You seem to have a natural ability to handle these anti-OC encounters.
Well done, and rep sent.
.While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Good Job Man!
So the sporting goods manager cant stand guns? Thats odd isnt it being that the sporting goods dept. sells guns?
So she cant stand guns because her husband killed himself with his 30-06? Maybe he killed himself because he couldnt stand her?
Anyway job well done.

Re: Kicked out of walmart twice for OC... Another Corp ordeal.
Why can't this WalMart be closer to me?
"I'm sorry Ma'am, but the WalMart corporate policy is to abide by the laws of the state in which the store resides, in regards to people exercising their 2nd Amendment rights and protecting themselves while shopping here. This is information I got from [insert big muckity muck's name here] from Arkansas. If you'd like to debate it, you can call him/her, but I'm not going to continue to have this discussion with you when your boss' boss' boss says that you're misinformed. I have some shopping to do, have a great day!"

I was at the eddystone WM buying 9mm practice rounds, the gal from Tires had to open the ammo case and ring me up. The register prompts the "is customer 18?" She looks at me then the SR9 and says with a smile, "Yes customer is over 18 "
Have a good day and stay safe.Derrion Albert was my Hero.

Re: Kicked out of walmart twice for OC... Another Corp ordeal.
Actually yes When I went in for the conversation with the store manager I found out that the "co-manager" who had escorted me out the first time with the second manager had his office in the same room and his was right inside the door. I knocked and when he opened up, I smiled and asked if I could speak to the store manager. He seemed at a loss for words and it seemed like he had been scolded due to the way he looked and acted. He certainly wasn't the confident and proud like he was when he escorted me out lol
Entirely possible. I've been told by more than one person from there that it wouldn't surprise them as I had the same thought on the issue as you
Lucky... They keep making me show my ID. Maybe they just want to badger me?Never underestimate the stupidity of your fellow human. Always carry a weapon!
