Default False information from the Sheriffs office

I finally got my license to carry on Monday. After everything was said and done I asked the lady about open carry. She stated that now that I have the permit I have to carry concealed. She even went as far as saying it has to be concealed inside my vehicle. I have researched the laws and I can't find anything even close to this, is she just misinformed?

She is misinformed, the LTCF permits but does not require CC, it also allows some other things not related to this specific question.

In what capacity did "the lady" work? Was she a deputy or a clerk? Not that it matters much because she gave you bad information. I am just curious.

Biggest lesson to learn from this is don't accept anyone's answer about gun law without them pointing you to a statute that supports it. And, from what I've read on this forum, LEOs (and "the lady behind the counter at the sheriff's office") probably give out more false information than anyone. They get asked a lot, and they often err on the side of adding restrictions that they wish were real, to the point of actually believing them one day.

So is is it legal if I conceal my weapon and somehow someone sees it? What about in a vehicle, does it need to be concealed?

As long as you have a License if its concealed and peeking out its still legal. I just try to avoid this happening. I have carried concealed for over 40 years and I'm sure Ive been caught more than once.

Thanks for the welcome and for the links. I was almost positive she had no idea what she was talking about, pretty sad she's telling everyone who gets a permit.

You do not lose your right to walk if you get a drivers license, do ya?

It doesn't have to be concealed anywhere in PA(except maybe State Parks until we hash things out with the DNCR). The license is for when you do conceal it or transport it in a vehicle.
