Wow....hard to believe. They do great business there, from what I know. Most locals frequent there anyway. But post up if anyone knows for sure.

Re: Nationals Sporting Goods
Ok, heres what they say I called and talked to Dave and he said sometimes when you get old you retire so I asked does that mean the store will be closing or will someone else be taking over. He said the store would remain open and there was something in the works to perhaps change ownership/management? So thats that I guess it will remain open so thats good for all

Re: Nationals Sporting Goods
Still open for business as of yesterday April 5.
I'd never want to see a closeout sale at National, but a clearance would nice once in a while.Adapt, Adjust and Overcome.

Re: Nationals Sporting Goods
I just bought my mini-14 there a few weeks ago, great prices and very friendly people. I hope it stays open for a long time!

Update: December '08
I talked to Drew at National last Saturday and he said they won't be closing 'till March '09 at the earliest, and thats if no one buys it and continues operations. It'll be a sad day when/if this place closes.

Re: Nationals Sporting Goods
anyone every buy online and have the national do the transfer? i've been wanting to but have never ordered online and had the transfer done at a local shop. from what i hear some shops have no problem doeing it, others will but arent happy about it and some flat out refuse. which of those does the national fall under?

Re: Nationals Sporting Goods
I really couldn't tell you as I've always just bought directly from them. Dave and Drew are pretty laid back and cool and probably wouldn't be offended if you ask (especially if its not something they stock) but I have no idea what the transfer fee would be. You could call and tell 'em Angelo sent ya, but I doubt that would help any, lol.
I see you're in Bellefonte, member "xringshooter" (Ron) here is a gunsmith and FFL in State College and I'm sure could transfer a gun for you, shoot him a PM.
Update regarding National being sold
National Sporting Goods in Jersey Shore is in the process of having a new owner. Dave and Drew (and Rod) are still there showing the new owner the ropes. The new guy seems pretty young, pretty eager and helpful, and pretty friendly. I was just there 1/2/10 and everything seems to going fine. I didn't ask how much longer the Lomison's are going to be there... I didn't wanna get too nosey.
