Best Handgun Shops in SW PA?
So after being exposed to my collection of firearms, my roommate has been bit by the bug. He's wanted a handgun for awhile, and I guess moving in with me put him over the top. I've found most of my handguns by shooting my friend's handguns. Sometimes I'll just research a gun, and decide to take a chance on it and order it over the internet. Haven't been disappointed with one of my purchases yet.
But I'd like to go with my roommate to a gun store to let him handle a wide range of guns before he decides to get one.
Which stores in the Pittsburgh area have a good selection of handguns? Which ones have the best prices (even if it's not the best selection)? My roommate was planning to go to the Cabelas in Wheeling, WV, but that's a little over an hour long drive. I'm sure there's some places closer that have almost as good of a selection.
Appreciate any recommendations!

+1 on Ace. They had Wilson Combat 1911s in stock last time I was in there. Closest I'll ever get to owning one.

For sheer numbers of guns Ace wins. But that's still a bit of a drive for you. I'd consider Bravermans in Wilkinsburg and John Brown's in Rochester also if you want a shorter ride.
It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

I have heard great things about Ace's selection.
Personally, I love Bee's in Saltsburg. You won't find the selection, but the prices are hard to beat. They will get you what you want, so if you know what you are looking for, give them a call.

Re: Best Handgun Shops in SW PA?
Thank you all for the suggestions! I think we'll end up at Ace's, because my friend doesn't really know what he wants beyond "a revolver". And I wouldn't mind perusing through a large selection to see if anything catches my eye.
I bought one of my guns at Bee's in Saltsburg a few years ago, specifically because they had the best price on the one I wanted. I'll keep them in mind next time I know what I'm looking for.

You won't be disappointed in the selection at ACE. Hell, if you go there, you might as well trek over to Cabelas for the heck of it.

Re: Best Handgun Shops in SW PA?
I've bought several firearms at ACE. I bought a Ruger GP100 at ACE a few weeks ago. They have a large selection of new and used firearms.
FYI. Nothing against Cabela's, but they are usually more expensive. For handguns, if you are a PA resident and you have to have it shipped to a FFL in PA and then you'll have to pay a transfer fee, so you tack on even more money. This doesn't apply to long guns.Last edited by paperseeker; October 17th, 2011 at 12:51 PM.
