Grandfather's Birthday Gift
My Grandfather's Birthday is coming up soon, I'm thinking about getting him this
Here's the link to it on Cabela's

Does anyone have this Ruger, if so how do you like it?
Thanks!

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
I have one just like it, It's just a plain Single Six (No 50th Anniversary Issue) But it's been a great gun and accurate with adjustable sights, mine also came with the .22 mag cylinder also as I think they all do, But why shoot magnums when LR's are cheaper by the pound?
It is well built and will last several lifetimes as all Ruger guns will, So really you can't go wrong.

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
My single six is old - not sure of exact age but I know it's pre-1973 (no transfer bar mechanism). I LOVE that gun. It's definitely my favorite. Single sixes are well known for being tack drivers - they shoot straighter than the people shooting them can. When I have a balloon across the way that won't pop, I inform my shooting partners that I'm going to cheat and break out my single six.
They're a hoot to fan, too. I win a lot of bets by getting six shots out of my single action revolver before folks with semi-autos can get their six shots downrange. I make no claims of accuracy in that shooting mode, of course

To be honest, I'm sure he'll love whatever you get him. While that looks nice, nothing says "I love you" like a Colt . Whatever you pick he will like.

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
We have a Ruger Single Six (Non-Anniversary Edition) Stainless Steel, also.
We love it.
It has the look of the old six shooters, has good weight to it, and shoots great.
I noticed the price.
You can find Non-Anniversary Editions for around $350.
I only pass this on if the price for the Anniversary Edition might be a little difficult for you financially.
God bless!!

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
I gave my mom one for the coyotes when she is walking her dog, an old beagle. I told her to load up the .22wmr cylinder. I love that pistol. Accurate, reliable, and cheap to feed with the .22 LR cylinder. I want to buy myself one when I can afford it

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
I have one. I like it better with wood grips. Looks better than the grips in the picture. Very accurate and a ball to shoot. Mine like Remington standard velocity in the blue and green box.

I have the stainless model and I like it. Good balance, accurate and just fun to shoot. Cheap to shoot too. Grandpa will love it.

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
You are a good grandson. A friend of my son has one (not the anniversary model) which I have shot many times. It is a very good .22. It is as accurate as a Browning semi .22, in my opinion.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Re: Grandfather's Birthday Gift
I've never heard of any major issues with Ruger's Single Six. ...great choice on a gift for your paps.
