I recently got a Uberti SAA .45 Colt revolver, 7 1/2" barrel, and I want to use it for woods hunting for deer in SE PA. I know that super-heavy loads are nor needed for deer with this cartridge-I plan on using a SWC 250 grain lead bullet at about 900-1000 FPS for my GP load. I have been shooting various SA revolvers among other handguns for over 35 years, and really prefer the feel of the SAA to a Ruger or other newer design, and besides I own 2 SAA's right now.

Is there an advantage to the longer barrel other than the sight radius? I have yet to try it at the range, but I can see the sights just fine with my 60 year old eyes, and I have never owned a SAA revolver that was not accurate.

Thanks for any of your experiences or information on hunting with these revolvers or with the .45 Colt in general.
