Courthouse
Hi all, new to carrying here and I had a quick question. I need to run into the Allegheny Courthouse sometime this week to pick up a doe tag (muzzleloader season snuck up on me) So I was wondering where to check a firearm there and what the procedure is. I plan to walk there so I really would prefer not to go naked, but I also do not want to place myself in a possibly sticky legal situation. Thanks

Re: Courthouse
Tell the deputy at the security check point you need to check a firearm. Do so before you step through the metal detector. The reaction of the deputy seems to vary widely from county to county. You may be asked to take it out to your car, you may be asked if you are law enforcement, you may get attitude, or you may get a pleasant and professional response one would hope to get.
My experience at Montco court house was all of the above except pleasant and professional. I was asked to take it back out to my car, repeatedly. Only after I reminded them they are required by law to provide lockable storage did they comply. They were clearly irritated by the fact they had to do their job.

Re: Courthouse
I may be wrong about this but I seem to recall that you need to go in the grant street entrance to check a weapon.
