    Default IDPA process Help...

Could someone explain to me how to get started with IDPA shooting. I have a 16 year old son who can shoot the shit out of targets with a full size 9mm. I believe he is a natural and would like to take him to a few shoots and then possibly compete someday. Thanks!

I tried to attached the IDPA rule book, to big, send me your email and i will send it to you directly, it might point you in the right direction.
just started in IDPA, there are meets every month at Guthsville, check your local clubs, some might sponsor meets in your area.
also i know you can shoot in 2 meets before you have to join IDPA, i think it's $40 a year.

Www.nepaidpascores.net seems to be the best "local" source. It has a list of almost all clubs in Pa that run a match as well as info to get started. But basically just to get your feet wet you need a pistol/revolver, usually 100rnds of ammo 2 spare magazines and a mag holder and holster. Past that be there ontime and watch what everyone else does, shoot much slower then everyone else until your comfortable and have a good time!

Find a local club. Visit a match and observe. Remember to bring eyes and ears. A local club might have a "practice" night. Thats how I got into it. Also, I believe new IDPA memberships are coming with an introduction to IDPA video. IDPA is a great sport for all levels of shooting. Hope you find a club near you to shoot at.
