Default New SIG P226 - Range Report

    SIG P226 9mm

The Good News: Gun functioned flawlessly. It ate 100 rounds of cheap remington 9mm like a champ

The Bad News: I need more practice

I've only owned one handgun prior to this one - a single action army, and of that handgun, I hardly ever shot it. Essentially, I'm new to pistol shooting and will probably need some pointers and a lot more practice.

Anyway, I was excited to take my new SIG to the range today. Got a box of cheap 9mm remington and had some fun.

This target was set up at about 10 yards - the first few shots were way off target (down and to the left of center), but then I started to figure out the trigger and took my time a bit more, following through with my shots:

Thumbs up Re: New SIG P226 - Range Report

Very nice grouping once you got used to it. Sig's are a great gun, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. I know I am with mine!

    Thanks for sharing!

looks good, Sigs are fantastic pistols. One tip I got when I started shooting pistols that helped a lot was to get a 22lr for a ton of cheap practice and just work the fundamentals. It really gets your basics down and translates well to centerfire handguns.

Nice group, You have to watch out with sig's as they tend to multiply. I started with a P-220 then a P-232 followed her home and then a sig mosquito moved in. Now I hear a P-226 wants to move in. lol, Thanks for sharing.

Tell me about it! It's hard not to take them all home.

Yeah definitely. I just picked up a p225 today... I didn't even make it a week since I bought my 1911. And I've got a .357 sig barrel conversion coming for my 226.

The P226 is super great, so you should definitely be happy with it. 'Bout the only things it won't do are sing and dance.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

A P226 9mm was my first handgun and I'll never get rid of it. It's a great gun even if it's 20 years old. Best of luck in the long future with yours.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

My west german sig p226 9mm is flawless, and has turned me into a huge fan of sig. Congrats on buying a quality handgun.
