    I'm in agreement 100%

Even if the parts are "hard enough" or "hardened", if some of the adjustments are wrong that you're asking about, you could still end up severly maimed and/or dead. I am concerned about this project, and I think you should be as well.

    All of the above.
If you've been working on this project for 10 years and have to ask these questions you really should be getting a professional to do it for you or abandon the project altogether. You've had plenty of time to research and learn everything you need to know. You've gotten this far and are asking entry level questions on an Internet forum where you could get answers that solve your problem or answers that could get you killed.

This isn't something to be taken lightly. If you build a ship in a bottle and it doesn't turn out as expected you've lost nothing but your effort and a little bit of loose change, building a gun without a working knowledge of the dynamics involved could be catastrophic to you and anyone else near you.

I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

I want to thank everyone for their concern, but I have no intention to shoot this gun before it goes to a gunsmith to be checked out. My sole intention at this point is to see if the foring pin is protruding from the bolt face enough to send the bolt to be hardened. That's all. I should have been more clear. Thanks, Joe

Those guys really are concerned for your safety...don't want to see you learn the hard way. Building a firearm is tough, mine was over a year in planning and three or four months of work before it was reality. Nothing beats the feeling of squeezing the trigger on something nobody else has because you built it.

I can tell by the tone of their responces that they care. That's why I wanted to clear my post up. A lot of the time I was building the gun was planning. Joe

Yeah, really. Whatca ya got there Joe? This is like rattling the Christmas gift, you know it's in there....but what is it?

But aside from that, I hope the rifle works out for you. It's a good idea to have a smith look it over for you too. It might be the difference between opps and ahhh.
