Default Need advice on a new ccw piece.

    Hello all,

I'm in the process of trying to select a new everyday carry piece.

I currently sometimes carry my Walther Ppk/s which I like, but I feel is a little too heavy/bulky for me and I feel that the .380 round although adequate is not as good as 9mm.

I've looked into some good wheel guns but what I really want is a something small, lightweight, i.e. easily concealable but still meets certain criteria.

I really like the design of the Walther. I'm wondering whether they make a small DA/SA with a decocker. I used to wish for a safety too but I'm perfectly content with just the decocker.

Well, I hope someone of you out there has an idea and thanks for looking,

    MBG

SOrry can't answer your question on the Walther....

In a pinch I carry a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard in .380 . Its a true pocket pistol. My normal everyday ccw is a 3in Kimber. If your looking for a 9mm pocket pistol check out the LC9 ?

If you like decockers, you might want to take a look at what HK has to offer. I have a USP .40 compact which has been a very good firearm. The only thing I dislike is the magazine release, but that's completely subjective.

Kel-tec PF-9 or P-11. Small 9's but no saftey or decocker.
Beretta px4 storm subcompact would be a choice but may be too bulky.

My smith/walther SW99 has a de-cocker but I had to get a smaller gun for a daily cc. I'll sell the sw99 to ya on the cheap!!

    Sig p239

Same single/ double action as a ppk with a decocker.

As a bonus you get a real caliber, 9mm 40 s&w or even 357 sig

Another option is the Walther P99C AS

9mm or 40 S&W and same single/ double action as a ppk with a decocker.

Smaller in every dimension than the PPK and weighs about 20 oz.

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

if you're looking for a small gun for concealed carry i'd look at the kahr, ruger lc9 or sig p290. the kahr is slightly smaller than your walther and the ruger and sig are probably about the same size but lighter due to the polymer frame.

M&P9c with a manual safety. Mine (sans safety) has been uber reliable and easy to conceal. Same siaze as a G19/23.

If you wanna stay with Walther, see if you can stomach a PPS in 9 or .40 (no manual safety or decocker. Think of it as a single stack Glock).

I think you will be hard pressed to find a DA/SA with less bulk than the PPK. I know you are frowning on wheel guns, but the S&W centennials are about as concealable as it gets, and the .38 special, while not quite as good as 9mm (but better than .380), has been putting holes in brains for years.

If wheel guns are out, I would also recommend the Kahr PM9. If you are a Walther fan, I assume you have looked at the PPS?
    Stay frosty....
