Learn to Shoot a Shotgun for FREE

Synopsis
The Mason-Dixon Clay Busters will be sponsoring two “Learn to Shoot a Shotgun for FREE” events for youth (grades 6 and up). Pre-registration is required. Everything needed to participate will be provided free of charge; guns, ammo, targets, safety equipment and instruction. These events stand alone and the same basic information will be presented at both events. Participants are welcome to attend either event or both if they so desire. The only difference between the two events will be the type of targets that are presented. At the October 22nd event we will be shooting Sporting Clay targets and at the November 6th event we will be shooting Trap targets. One type of target is not more difficult than the other and beginners will see very little difference between the two.

Participants will be instructed on basic firearm safety and proper gun handling. This instruction is not meant to take the place of a formal Firearm Safety Course, but is intended to give participants the basic information necessary in order to try the sport of Clay Target Shooting.

At the conclusion of our group instruction and safety briefing, participants will head out to the range where they will work with our instructors for the hands on portion of our program. Depending on the number and level of experience of those attending, it may be necessary to separate the participants into more manageable groups. During the range portion of the event, we will put into the practice basic gun mount and proper shooting position discussed in our group instruction. Each participant will have the opportunity to shoot at approximately 10-15 targets.

After our range time we will reconvene to discuss the day’s events, allowing time for questions and answers. We will also discuss next steps and additional youth Shooting Sports opportunities available in the area.

About the Mason-Dixon Clay Busters
The Mason-Dixon Clay Busters are a youth clay target shooting program with openings for Youth in Grades 6-12. We participate in Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays. If you are a beginner, we have loaner equipment and Certified Coaches on hand to teach you everything you need to know.
