Cmon man, who DIDNT want to be Sonny Crockett ? He almost always got the girl, and got paid to drive a Ferrari, a Cigarette Speed Boat and live on a sailboat. He was practically the ultimate playboy. And he got to carry a rare pistol every day, the Bren 10

LOL Barney didn't sport the Jackass rig, and they only gave him one bullet at a time, I seem to recall him repeatedly shooting himself or nearly doing so in the foot.

Yes it gets warm in Wisconsin. Define warm. Packers being 3-0 helps
I did tell him 2 fun shops that rent pistols.
Shoulder holsters shout cop to me.
    If you carry your Lemat
I will carry my Schoefield. Actually I am planning on carrying the Schoefield if I can find a decent holster for it. I have not looked for one yet.
    OK answers,

1: be careful this is Steelers country.
2: You have a Schoefield? Is it original S&W or a clone? If S&W what year was it built?
3: Man I'm jealous, always wanted a Schoefield.

I respectfully disagree. The 1911 is a very easy handgun to master, and it is arguably perhaps the safest handgun ever sold, especially the "modern" ones with the firing pin safeties. You get multiple, redundant layers of safety:

    • Thumb safety
    • Grip safety
    • Firing pin safety

Compare to a Glock (ask Plaxico Burress)

I agree, the reduntant safety on the 1911 are excellent for newbies. Also keep in mind (though I am not a fan) the 1911s are now chambered in all popular pistol calibers.

I think a small revolver is best for newbies. The reason being- it's impossible to mistake it for being unloaded unlike pistols.

1.no ones afraid of a steeler.
2 It is a uberti 1873 cattleman in 45 colt. It has the 5" barrel and it is big I have almost no felt recoil. I would like to shoot cowboy so I am buying 1 gun at a time till I have what I need to shoot a match.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.
