Default Converting single action to double action?

This probably sounds like a real dumb question but I was just curious if it was possible. Can a single action revolver be converted to double action?

Not so fast there, buckaroos. It's dependent on the firearm. If you are talking strictly about the plowshare gripped "cowboy" guns with a loading gate, the answer would be no.

However, waaaay back in the day, when bullseye competition was contested with wheelguns, S&W produced SAO versions of the model 14 (maybe of the 17 & 25 also, but that's speculation). Since it had a swing-out cylinder, and was originally designed as a DA revolver, conversion to DA or DAO was a matter of easily replacing/fitting some parts.

Probably not what you meant, but technically correct.

There aren't any kits to do that, nor for the Colt SAA design cartridge pistols either.

However, with custom fabricated parts and internals it is possible. I already have an idea in my head as how to do it.
