Wolff extra power hammer spring + AR match trigger?
I'm beginning to put together a dedicated lower for the Bohica FAR-50 upper that I ordered. I received confirmation that the upper should be ready in early March, so I need to finish up my lower before this monster arrives.
I'd like to install a nice trigger in this lower, since this will be an über long range shooter and all. The problem is the guy who makes this upper recommends a Wolf extra power hammer spring since most standard AR hammer springs cannot provide enough force to consistently ignite the hard primers on most milsurp .50 BMG ammo (which I happen to want to shoot, at least initially).
That being said, what are my options for a good trigger? Most of the triggers I've looked at like Chip McCormick and Timney appear to be complete self-contained units that drop right in. I'm assuming that I probably can't easily install an extra power hammer spring into one of those. What other trigger options do I have that could utilize an extra power hammer spring? And will the addition tension from the extra power hammer spring negate the otherwise light pull of the trigger?

Re: Wolff extra power hammer spring + AR match trigger?
I went in the other direction before and used a lighter hammer spring for decreased trigger pull. The heavier hammer spring will surely increase pull but with a decent 2-stage trigger installed I think you will still end up with a nice trigger.
Try it!
If it doesn't work out ("dry" firing the lower) sell the 2-stage and try something else.Guns are good.
If you can't fry it you shouldn't eat it

Re: Wolff extra power hammer spring + AR match trigger?
Try the Rock River Arms 2 stage match trigger. I have it in all my AR's now and since it is not a single drop in unit you can replace the standard hammer spring and put in the extra power spring. As with repalcement of any spring, by going heavier you will have a bit more increase in the trigger pull but not necessarily because of it being a two stage.

Re: Wolff extra power hammer spring + AR match trigger?
Well I just ordered the RRA two-stage kit. I found it for $99, which I must admit is much quite cheap compared to the other triggers I've seen. I hope it works out well, I can't wait for this beast to be complete. All I need now is a good piece of glass and I'll be ready.

Bumping this. Found on Google. Did you get your Bohica together? Does the RRA trigger work with the extra power hammer spring?
Thanks

You could also take a look at AR-10 triggers as I believe they have a higher mass hammer and stronger springs. I don't know too much about them but it would be something worth looking into.

Just saw this post. Answers my question about whether he has it or if it works.
