    Default AR HG question

Well I just recently got my new to me carbine ,It has a railed HG on it with a vert. grip . While I like the grip, I simply hate that black alum jagged railed monstrosity and want it off of there! My question is this, Does anyone make a regular old fashioned plastic(or whatever it is) handguard that just has a small rail on the bottom for the grip.

I don't knowthe answer, but people make small rails that attach to the holes on the bottom of the regular old fashioned plastic handguards (A2 or M4) for that very purpose. Also, Magpul makes plastic handguards called MOE that were designed with slots to attach small rails to as well. I just bought my first set of Magpul MOEs and I love them.

MOE handguard is what you would want
    BUT
They make rail covers specifically to protect the rails and your hands, I would recommended those before changing handguards.
If your rail isnt a 2 piece it may be tough to remove

rail covers are cheap and you can cut them shorter to leave space to mount vertical grips or lights ect...
I would get some and try them, wont cost yo much, and you keep the ability to mount stuff in the future

The are maybe a quarter inch thick so add that to the diameter I guess
