Carrying in Louisiana, and pulled over
I figured with all the LEO encounters we hear about that I'd post mine from an out of state LEO encounter. I'm working at a base in Louisiana and was driving around on the weekend checking out the area when I was pulled over by the LA State Police. As he approached my window I informed him I was armed (duty to inform here) to which he said "OK". Since the shoulder was so narrow, and some people around there drive too fast, he asked me to step to the rear of the vehicle. Before doing so he asked that I place my weapon on the floor while we conduct our business at the rear of the vehicle, which I did, and met him at the rear of the vehicle. We BS'd about guns and how fast some Yankee's drive, and I drove off with my $25 fine for no seat belt. Never asked for permit, never asked to see the gun, but he did want to see the holster because he hated the one for his BUG. For me this was a good experience, but opinions vary.

Re: Carrying in Louisiana, and pulled over
it does sound like it went well.
my prob is if he stopped you for just the seat belt issue. if it was for something else and he maybe cut you a break( speeding?) then it certainly went well imho.
if it was for just the s/b then that blows, now its a fishing trip.To err is human, to be prepared divine

Ok, good encounter. But I gotta ask, what do you think your odds are of needing that gun vs. needing that seat belt?

Sounds like another good encounter. Seat belt fine doesn't sound to good.

Re: Carrying in Louisiana, and pulled over
the point i was making is if you were pulled over for a s/b violation the entire purpose of the s/b law is to go fishing .
take pa. as an example. why would it be ok to not use a helmet on a bike but its not ok to not use your seat belt in a car/truck? buses dont have them, public or school.
im not trying to stir up crap its just that law infuriates me, and im truly glad you had a good exp. with the trooper. To err is human, to be prepared divine
