I'm up there pretty often, and I've seen quite a few others in my travels, Honesdale, over towards Indian Orchard (the New Yorkers freak out regularly), Hawley and Hamlin, the only conversation I've had in Honesdale was with a local gendarme asking me how I liked the Crimson Trace.

I lived by the lake a couple of years ago. I open carried while walking my dogs with no problems.

I don't live up there, but we keep the boat at the lake. So when I do go up, I'm usually OC

I live in Honesdale - what was the officers name and badge number?

Nothing against you but i see this as a prime reason i dont OC yet - one must be fully educated upon the subject before embarking unless one is in the mood to dance with disaster

Yea I agree with you, if you choose to OC you should know all the laws regarding it. Take a look at some of the stickies in the open carry thread and possibly look into some meet and greets too. It would be nice to see another OCer in Honesdale. With the exception of that one encounter and a minor incident at Wally world, Honesdale is normally OC friendly. Also the officers name was Columbo.

I'm over by Lake Wallenpaupack (Hawley) and have CC'd for a number of years now. I have recently become interested in OC around the area. I would like to be more familiar with some protocol for dealing with LE encounters, but it doesn't seem like that is much of an issue around here.

Hey the protocol when dealing with LE is pretty simple. If your open carrying on foot dont show them shit. If your in a vehicle then show them your LTCF. And for the most part there really isn't too much of a issue. I had a problem a few months ago with Honesdale PD but that was only one bad encounter in a year so its not as bad as some other places but its still one bad encounter too many imo. Anyways glad to see another open carrier in the area!
