This is your answer right here.

Buy the cheapest ammo Wal Mart has to offer, brass if you get hung up on that steel case business. I certainly don't.

As stated previously, any factory 9x19 ammo will work fine for plinking. Brass vs Steel is one of personal preference unless you're a reloader. For any serious work though the following recommendations come via Dr Roberts.

That's a good point too.....steel ammo is even cheaper if you don't reload and don't care about getting the brass back.

Whichever brand of range ammo shoots most accurately in HIS gun.

    Seems pretty simple to me.

To OP: Might want to try the various range ammo options out there, to see which one is most accurate in YOUR gun.

Just for clarification, the Barnes XPB is loaded in 9mm by both Doubletap and Corbon (their DPX line). Supposedly, Buffalo Bore is coming out with this load in 9mm+P+ as well, by the end of the year.

Just purchased a brand "Herters" or something, from Cabelas, $8.99 for 50 rounds of box. 9mm, Brass, 115 grain. Probably crap, but I'm only shooting at ranges anyway.

Oh yeah, any of the HP bullets used in those loadings at sufficient velocity will achieve the same results whether they be factory or handloads. That's just the list of factory loads he's tested. I would just be careful of lower quality loadings such the Doubletap & Corbon as they are known for their muzzleflash as they don't use low flash powders which can hamper follow up shots especially in a dark/low light situation. Not saying they won't work, cause they will, but just something to be aware of.

Buffalo Bore uses flash reducing powders. I don't know what's low quality about Buffalo Bore. He basically loads every round by hand...it's hand made ammunition.

Isn't hand made usually associated with the highest in quality possible?

I've had several conversations with Tim Sundles of BB, and he has taken great care of me in the past with customer service issues. I am a big supporter of Buffalo Bore, though yes, their ammo is very expensive.

DT has a lot of critics, i am not nearly as familiar with them or with Mike McNett, so i won't defend them like i'll defend BB, because i can't honestly say one way or another if it's low quality or not. The one DT load i use is their 147gr+P TMJ flat nose ammo for trail defense.

I don't know, I can't recall ever mentioning Buffalo Bore nor do I recall claiming that Dr Roberts had tested every loading out there. All I said was that some manufacturers don't use low flash powders & to be aware of that.

I'm sorry, i misread your post and thought you named BB along with Corbon and DT as "low quality."

    My bad.

I'll be sending Dr. Roberts some Elite Ammo S4M 5.7x28mm OTM ammo soon so he can do a full test on it, in the next year.
