The Importance of Game Identification
Nevada man killed in grizzly bear attack on Idaho-Montana border identified
The pair encountered a bear that they thought was a black bear, the sheriff's office said. They shot and wounded the bear, which was actually a young boar grizzly bear. They tracked the bear to an area of heavy cover, and the bear attacked Stevenson.Of every one hundred men in battle, ten should not even be there. Eighty, are nothing but targets. Nine are the real fighters, we are lucky to have them since they make the battle. Ah, but the one—one is the Warrior—and he brings the others home. —Heracletus

Re: The Importance of Game Identification
I know that Wyoming actually requires a bear identification test before receiving a license to hunt bear.
But quite frankly, given the varied coloration of black bears out west and the age of the grizzly (young) I'm not really suprised at the mis-identification.
Pursuing ANY wounded bear could get you in trouble if your not extremely careful.Kind Regards,
