    Thumbs up Shooting competitions

My friends and i are looking for some ways to compete shooting. We would like something that tests us against each other aside from just accuracy. We would like to bring speed and a head to head aspect to it. We often shoot long range rifles, pistols and shotguns. Any ideas what we should do? i have been thinking of buying a dueling tree (do you know where to get a good deal on one that can handle high powered rifles?).

The other idea i have is setting up clay targets at 200 yards and the first person to hit all 5 wins. Kind of lame but sounds fun.

    Any ideas will be appreciated.

USPSA , IDPA , Multigun , SASS , steel challenge , F class , A number of high power rifle comps. Not familar with your area but you should be able to find some sanctioned matches near you , good luck and always be safe and have fun

Just for a fun and friendly competition, you could set up a course of fire and time it. Total misses add X seconds to the final time, on target but not "good enough" add Y seconds, etc. Best time wins.

Grab some targets and make a course if you don't want to do an organized match. If you watch nutnfancy's run and guns something like that could be easily set up with paper targets (If you have enough space).

We shoot on a farm so space is not an issue.

If not wanting to get into official comp. you could try PMSC on a thursday evening. They have pistol practice that is open to the public. It will give you some idea of what is involved there.

You could also try PMSC on the first sunday of the month if military rifle shooting is your choice. CMP shoot.
