How would an outright ban on 5.7x28 benefit them?

was this a question for me? I meant they damn well should come out with a $600 version of the five-seven. Or just make the five-seven less expensive, I mean really $1,000?

Why would anyone ban the five seven? Lots of rounds can penetrate body armor in several common calibers.

I found factory 9mm+P+ ammo that defeats a IIIA. There are certainly plenty of .38 super, .357 magnum and .357 sig loads that will too.

Yeah, but the politicians don't seem to have quite the hard-on for those calibers as they do for the 5.7.

I can't really remember any pol except for the usual few gun haters even mentioning the five seven any time in the last several years.

The Tok 7.62x25mm factory flat nose rounds will penetrate a IIIA vest.

I was just testing some .22 LR rounds from my new M&P 15/22. So far, the best i've found is the Aguila Interceptor 40gr flat nose hypervelocity round. It penetrated 12-15 layers of Kevlar in my tests...should be just enough to defeat a level IIA vest.

I decided to test this Aguila round because the new Federal American eagle 40gr TMJ 5.7x28mm round -when fired from a five seven pistol- is actually only about 75fps faster than the intercepter round will do from my 22" S&W M&P-15/22. The 40gr 5.7x28mm will defeat a level II vest fired from the Five SeveN pistol as shown in video tests i posted in this thread.

American Eagle 5.x7x28mm 40gr TMJ from 4.8" FsN Barrel: 1625fps (online video chrono tests)

Aguila 40gr JFN .22LR from 22" barrel: 1550fps (user chrono reported velocity using 22" rifle)

The extra 75fps difference between the two seems to equate to another half dozen additional layers of Kevlar penetration.

I find it pretty cool that even the hottest 40gr .22 lr round fired from a 22" barrel still falls 75fps short of the slowest 5.7mm 40gr when fired from a 4.8" pistol barrel.

    WANT SO BAD!!!

New custom slide cover for FsN:

Currently the designer is talking $100 per unit, which is out of my price range...but if the price came down to $50 or $60, i'd be all over it in a HEARTBEAT. I think it looks seriously badass.

It's being made by "S-industries" and is currently still in the prototype stage.

If they only made one that fit my small girly hands I would be all over it. Even if it was over $1,000. Seriously, small hands are a curse in the firearms world. Can't even get a good grip most double stack 40S&W handguns! Forget about 45, 10mm, and I'm betting the 5.7 is right there with the rest of them.
