Double tap in NE Philly has a couple thousand rounds on their shelf, but obviously not for $17. Double tap sells it for the same price as they sell their .45acp Speer Lawman FMJ range ammo.

The is $17 is a good online price. All the big online usual ammo selling suspects seem to be carrying it now. It seems to go from between $17 if you get really lucky to about $22 a box if you just want to buy ammo and not wait for any deals or shop around.

On the opposite end of the scale, in FN ammo, the premium LE Only SS198 duty round can be had online for anywhere from $29-40 per box of 50. I just got 10 boxes of that for about $34 each.

That strikes me as a very reasonable price for 50 rds of premium factory LE ammo.

Federal American Eagle 40gr TMJ. My local shop has thousands of rounds of it on the shelf.
I guess that's not too bad but it's still a few bucks more than the steel 223 ammo I plink with.

    Look how popular .223 is.

Imagine how cheap 5.7mm would be if it was as popular. Do your part to bring the cost down.

    Buy a 5.7mm caliber weapon.

It would definitely help sales if other companies came out with 5.7mm chambered pistols or carbines.

An FsN mag fed AR would be the shiznit.

    Hey, that's a great argument.

I don't really see the point. It would still only hold 30, just like a regular AR. If I'm going to carry around an AR-sized weapon that 'only' holds 30 rounds, I'd rather those 30 were .223/5.56 than 5.7.

To me one of the main attractions of the 5.7 is the capacity. 20-30 in pistol, and 50 in a carbine (PS90 or AR57 upper). Sure, you have to buy PS90 mags to get that capacity in a carbine, but they're readily available for $30-ish, which isn't really a big factor in the overall scheme of things. Oh, and the other attraction is the really handy size of the PS90 compared to an AR.

It makes sense because your FsN would take the same magazines.

IOW, if you have 12 mags on you, it means you have 12 mags for your sidearm, AND 12 mags for your carbine.

    Got it?

Well what about an AR pistol or AR SBR in 5.7? They can be comparable in weight/dimensions to a PS90.

What useful characteristics would an AR pistol in 5.7x28 this bring to the table that we don't already have in the PS90 or the Five SeveN?

The 5.7x28 that I want is a smaller, more concealable, and perhaps less plasticy pistol than the existing Five SeveN. Something no bigger than a single-stack HK P7, with a capacity of 10-15.
