The Sig I think is the clear winner here. The chiefest amongst the reasons for that is because she likes it. The others are quality, shoot-ability and criteria.
The M1. Smackin' the bastards since 1932.

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone's help. We went to the local gun shop today and picked up a beautiful Sig p238 with rosewood grips and night sights. Then off to the in-laws farm to try it out. We fired 100rds with no malfunctions, although the slide didn't lock back once. Ammo was a box each of Blazer Brass and TulAmmo. Do to a mistake on my part I forgot part of the range gear including another box of Remington UMC and a box of Hornady Critical Defense. I guess that means another trip to the range.
My wife loves this gun and she shoots it very well, which makes me happy. We also picked up a second magazine with a grip extension and it helps a lot with follow up shots. Overall we both love this gun.

Here's a couple pics, one with my new-to-me Kimber Warrior.

I have recommended the Taurus 24/7 G2 compact to a number of females that shoot where I do. Most of them are new to shooting and just acquired their CCP. I know that two of these ladies have bought them and are very happy with them (thankfully, since I don't feel like being linched). This is a well thought out pistol at a very good price, and it has the features you are looking for. Very good trigger.

I have not shot the 809c, but it is hammer fired with the same features. The full size 809 is a great shooter with mad features. I don't know about the compact, but the full size has a very good trigger, as well, if you are in the market for DA/SA (on the G2 and the 800 series)

G2's were going for $319 at a show my wife and I were at a couple of months ago.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
