It does look like pretty extensive fire damage I'd be hard pressed to pull the trigger more then a few times on that one. It did clean up nicely and makes a great looking display and conversation piece.

Yup. It belonged to a WWII vet, was found and sent it in to have restored. The vet died before the job was done, so Mr. James finished it at his own cost and presented it to his grandson (or son) for a remembrance. No one's going to be taking it to a range I'm sure.

He's had his troubles, but he's a great American man. The NRA just contracted with him for merchandise.

They look great on that high polished RIA. I go back and forth with 1911 grips but always end up putting the ugly Hogue wrap around a on for long range days they just can't be best when it comes to comfort and control.

Now I think I need a stainless steel 1911 and a few hours with the polishing wheel.

How are those grips I love the look being able to see the mag but I wonder how they are to actually shoot with.

I have a set of the Valkyrie skeleton aluminum grips just like that sig on a colt. My opinion of them is opposite of yours, I don't think they look nice but they are very functional. Very comfortable to shoot with, grippy without cheese grater effect of my #1 favorite grip, the VZ recons...
