My Colt Defender. I have also owned a Dan Wesson 1911 in the past but sadly did not hold on to it.

Colt Commercial manufactured in 1912 serial #C884. It has been reblued, I am looking for the correct barrel and a keyhole magazine for it. I am sending it to Turnbull in October to have it restored,hopefully I can find the parts by then.

Found the keyhole magazine (hurt the wallet) Went to the Allentown show today and gave it to Turnbull for a complete restoration.

Wow, that is a beautiful piece of Colt history. Color me jealous.

Thanks, it was hard to hand it to someone you don't even know and walk away with a piece of paper saying you own it. I have looked at other restorations and no one can do the job Turnbull can do. It is going to take 18 months or so to get it back. Now everything else is on hold until I pay for the restoration. I will post pictures when I get it back. I am going up to Turnbull's shop to get it when it is finished and they are going to give me a tour of the whole facility.

After years of wanting one, I finally got myself a "REAL" 1911...
A Colt O4691

And hopefully many more to come...



There is, unfortunately, a some issue with it.
Colt apparently shipped it out bone dry. No shipping oil or whatsoever.
and while it was sitting at the shop(during 3 months layaway time), it developed some rust under the grip...:bawling:



Its under the grip. So grip will cover it up. But its not something that should have happened..
Im going to discuss it with owner of shop. Hopefully, he'll help me fix this up
