    Default 45 shortage?

    Question
a range I shoot at the owner says 45 is getting more expensive to manufacture and may even be hard to get he has been telling me about the price increase but now he says the material is different for 45 than say a 380 or 9mm
I believe things getting expensive but is this guy blowing smoke up my ass?
I dont want to give the name of the place or his name but any feedback if anyone has any is appreciated

Did he say how 45 is manufactured differently?
    Is this a recent development?
45 & all ammo has gotten more expensive and harder to find due to military use and the falling value of the dollar.

No he wasn't really sure I understand 45 is going to be more than 9mm the Afghanistan war etc but he made it like it was going to be harder to come by

Yeah... it's made out of that greater diameter brass - VERY hard to come by these days...

Go back and tell that to him - see if he agrees!

.45 uses more material, but not different material than say 9mm or .380.

Sounds like a sales pitch, a grossly un-informed dealer, an idiot, or just a plain liar.

As for the military, this may have been true when the wars first spooled up, but the mfgs caught up fairly quickly and most "shortages" were induced by dealers looking to gouge.

Oh and the military uses primarily 5.56 and 9mm don't they? So why would .45 be in shortage.
