Default Tax Refund aka New Gun

So here is my "problem" I am receiving a larger tax return than I was previously expecting.

So naturally what gun am I going to buy ?

I have it down to a couple options

    An M1 or M1A
    A higher end 1911
    A "long range" tactical rifle
    A wheel gun, 357 mag
    Reloading supplies
Or whatever gun that suites me at Cabelas

    The M1 or M1A
I've always wanted both of these guns and will have them before I die. Just a fact. I'm slightly leaning towards the M1 Garand over the M1A just for the history factor. Plus the PING! is just down right cool.

    1911
Let me explain about what I mean by high end. Currently I have a basic SA GI 1911. Nothing fancy about it what so ever. However I'm not very happy with it. It has lots of FTE and I am not very good at shooting it with the basic sights. Every time I shoot my friends pistols I do significantly better.
I want to trade it in and get a 1911 with betters sights, beavertail etc. Just a higher end SA or Kimber. Something along those lines.

    Tactical Rifle
I want a bolt action rifle, probably a remmy. I want to do shooting out to 300 yards. I know many of you don't consider this truly long range but I do. The problem with getting a good bolt action rifle means you have to spend more money on good glass. I'm thinking maybe something along the lines of a .308 or .300 Win Mag.

    Wheel Gun
The only revolver I have a is a .22. I wouldn't mind getting into revolvers.

Either way I'll probably end up getting reloading supplies so....

I think the front runners are a new 1911 or an M1 Garand.

Let me know what you think.

If you shop with care you can get a good used S&W or Ruger 357 revolver and a lever action rifle in the same caliber,2 weapons that use the same round, start to reload and save money.
    Just a thought.

I'm looking at a Citadel 1911 full size because it has Novak Style Sights. I just can't see the standard 1911 sights any more.

For a revolver, get nothing less than a S&W or Ruger. Even a used one is better than some of the other brands new.

If I didn't already have one I'd get the M1A. Mine allways draws a attention at the range and shoots wonderfully. I remember letting a good friend run a mag through it at a shoot once, After he looked at his target he yelled at me "You bastard! How much money did you cost me now!" He ordered one before leaving the club that day, and he's still thrilled with it. All your choices are good. If you lean towards the 1911, check out a Kimber, They're nice...

Big tax return- this is your chance to grab a suppressor!

But with your options, I'd suggest A Remington 700 in .308 with one of these stocks. Good glass and a bipod, of course. Maybe because I've always wanted to hit a gong at 600yrds or more.

I would go 1911 just because it's the 100th anniversary. Just my 2 cents

1911 (Dan Wesson ), but no bobber. Can I live out my next fantasy thru your next purchase?
Lucky you, my refund was enough to fill up my truck's gas tank, with barely enough left over for a bottle of Mt. Dew and a bag of beef jerky.

Interesting point about it being 100th anniversary of the 1911.

What can be expected from the M1A in terms of accuracy? In other words could it do double duty and be my long range tactical gun as well ?

As far as a suppressor, although that sounds really awesome I am ignorant about the process. I assume it takes money and a lot of paperwork......

What am I missing....You don't own an M1A. It was my first long gun. If you got a match/super match version it very well could do double duty.
