There are places you CAN hunt with an ak. But parsonally i'd rather have a more traditional deer rifle. There's a reason people have hunted with the same type of guns for a hundred years, cuz they work.

Wisconsin allows such rifles or did prior to the Vang incident a couple years ago. It wouldn't surprise me if they have since banned such rifles for hunting.

My opinion If I had a deer of a lifetime in front of me the last gun I would want in my hand is an ak.

Last time I know, NY was still legal to hunt with Semi-Auto, provided that 5rd(or was it 10?) mag is fitted, and gun itself meets the NY's gun law.

The very first deer I bagged was with M1 Carbine with magazine with piece of wood which prevented me from loading anymore then 5rd(or 10, which I can't remenber) in it back in 98.

Semi auto hunting in PA is no no tho

    Chai Vang

In November of 2004 Chai Vang shot 8 people and killed six of them during a hunting season confrontation apparently involving Mr. Vang trespassing on private land.

He was sentenced in 2005 to six consecutive life sentences + 70 years.

The firearm he used was an SKS rifle. He had a quick detach scope on the rifle and during an argument detached the scope and shot the other hunters. Several were shot in the back. He apparently chase one or more down to kill them and returned to the original spot and shot one victim again.
