    .
    So it's stolen US property?

I've never understood the "vet bring back" when it's a US issued weapon.

    I'm seriously asking here.
Was it really stolen or was it actually purchased at some point by said vet?

War trophy docs typically are trophies taken from the enemy or from the battlefield.

A soldiers issued rifle typically does not qualify as a "war trophy" since its US Gov property. What we have on the market was bought, stolen, or released from surplus storage by the military to sell on the civilian market.

That's what I have always thought as well.
I'm amazed at the people selling "Paps 1911 he brought back from the war"...
I know I have read where some men were "awarded" a pistol or rifle after an act of valantry, but I've never seen proof.

But I do know that War trophy papers are widely counterfeited.
A US Carbine with trophy papers is a huge red flag...

I'm not posting this as a "gotcha", more of a huge giant buyer beware when dealing with "bring backs" and "war trophies" especially when there is a premium attached for the "provenance ".
