I've had a Ruger Single Six on my wish list for some time now. Knowing this will be an occasional shooter and I already have multiple other .22s, I can't justify the cost of a new model. Yesterday I came across this at Bear's Gun Den near Kingston. It's got some wear but for under 2 bills out the door I couldn't pass on it. It only came with the standard .22 LR cylinder but the serial number aligns with the "Old Model" Single Six - Magnum. I'm not sure if these came with both cylinders or if the one present was a replacement.

According to Ruger's site this is a 1963 manufacturer. It is an unaltered 3 screw model.

You have a good club right down the road at Carlisle Fish and Game. Another good club up off Wertzville Road at the Mechanicsburg Sportsmans Association.

    Why drive any further??

    Good luck,

I've been at HH&A for years but was thinking about Mechanicsburg Sportsman's Association - shot there once with someone. I don't see how to join ? Is it like Enola where you have to know someone and wait on a list and a secret society - lol ?

Think Mechanicsburg has an open Thursday night for trap shoot. I had a membership there 10 years ago. Went just for the indoor handgun range. Not sure if either of these clubs cater to the 3 gun match style of shooting. I may be wrong. Had a few steer me towards WSSA.

Very nice. I would love a heavy blued flat gate. One day I may get one.

Interested to know how the 809 runs. My 1st semiauto was a 24/7 pro in 9mm and it was a great pistol. I hated the straight 8 sights they used and there were no replacement options at the time so I sold it.

I had one a few years ago, always ran fine but I got light primer strikes with Tula, which is why I got rid of it. $235 OTD for a new full size pistol I couldn't say no. You also get a free 1 year NRA membership with new Taurus guns.

0420181507_Film1 (640x480).jpg Hopefully warmer weather coming, CZ getting a little heavy. Sudden urge to stop by Advanced Arms and price was right. My last Glock gave to my son, so i'll change sights out and good to go. Would have bought model with Ameriglo or Glock n.s., but none in stock.

Picked up 11 sets of RCBS reloading dies (all but one in three die sets) in three different mixed lots at an auction (only one appears to have been used) for approximately $15 per set. Most of them (except for the .45 COLT) are for big game rifles.

11 sets of reloading dies 1.jpg

    2 - 450x400 NITRO EXP 3" (400 JEFF)

    1 - 9.3MMx62 MAUSER

    1 - .45-120 SS 3 1/4"

    1 - .500 S&W CARBIDE

    1 - .375 H&H MAG

    1 - .416 RIGBY

    1 - .45-70

    1 - .404 JEFFERY

    1 - .300 WBY MAG

    1 - .45 COLT

Also picked up approx. 200 new/unfired but apparently unloved NORMA .416 Rigby brass (for about $.25-.30 per case) in two obscure lots of brass that included other bags of uncommon/unfired brass. It took some time/work to clean-up the NORMA brass but they now shine like chops in a Gleem toothpaste commercial. FWIW, new NORMA .416 Rigby brass goes for approximately $3.00 per case....

FWIW, the loaded cartridges run $5-10 per round (and they probably should since they run with a 400 gn. solid at a MV of approximately 2300 fps and about 5100 ft-lbs of energy).

Since I won the.416 Rigby dies and Norma brass in the same .416 caliber, I also bid (and won) on a Ruger No. 1 Tropical single shot rifle in .416 Rigby (24" heavy barrel) in excellent condition.

Gonna be an interesting summer at the range with this one...

Note: some other on-line bidder purchased nearly ALL of the 18 other Ruger No. 1 rifles in different calibers (in excellent, unfired condition)at great individual prices. Must be a retailer in NY who's planning on marking them up 100%...
