Now that's something to be a little envious of. Very nice I would love to have a one of the 1977 vintage.

Like you need a figgin' bat signal. A few posts later, you're hoping to score a Walther. More like "Well, the sun came up today. I think I'll go buy another gun."

Closing the loop. Thursday I picked up the gun from my FFL (purchased from NJ shop so my C&R won't work), and field stripped and inspected it. My conclusion is that this PPK is much more than a commercial model, it is rather one purchased by the RSHA for use by the police, security, or intelligence services (Kripo, SD, or Gestapo). The s/n is within an SS/RSHA block, and are placed in the right locations. Steven Stepan's book is enroute and may provide even more information.

I got a really good deal. Neither the dealer nor I knew what it was when we did the deal.

Gander Mtn just had the Fed 745 (525ct boxes) on sale for $24.99/box. that's not a joke either. was limit one, shipping was free over order $50, so I added 4 boxes of minimags to get the order over the limit. minimags were $7.99/100. not stellar but about average lately. I haven't seen the walmart Fed 750 (550ct) boxes in forever. 745 and 750 is the same ammo though, just different packaging, so I don't care.

I haven't either. My dad was there yesterday and grabbed a box of the Remington thunderbolt for 29.99, he didn't see these or he would have grabbed them instead. The 5.56 ammo was average at $40. Not great, but not horrible. I really wanted a box of 62 or 69gr but didn't see much for a decent price.

I bought one of those from SARCO in December(covered in cosmoline), I just cleaned it last weekend and put it in the case today. The safety is a bear. Nice buy!.
