The wait is over, My G40 showed up and I picked it up yesterday.
I just mounted the Trijicon RMR and need to get out and shoot it.
It only just fits in the standard Glock case.
Its BIG.

Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
I honestly don't know never had a wood burner before but wish I had one now due to the cost of pellets. A ton of pellets consists of 50 40lb bags, when winter sinks in and it's hitting those crazy lows we are burning 60 lbs a day(bag & a half). Last winter we went through 4 tons of pellets and 250 gal of oil.
We also use a heat pump off the ductless AC for our upstairs at night. I am hoping that oil keeps going down so we can get buy on only 3 tons this year use a bit more oil but save about $500.00 plus.Last edited by Hodgie; September 4th, 2015 at 07:57 PM.

Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
Data points:
I burned 4 tons last winter in my old farmhouse.
Pretty well insulated
I run a hi efficiency propane forced air furnace.
Pellet stove handles about 80% of the heating running 24/7.
Furnace kicks on in the AM
Local price is $245/ ton. Up from $235 last year and $220 year before.
My Englander pellet stove cost about $1100 10 years ago.
I've replaced a couple motors: blower and combustion fans
I'm a fan: Heat source is MUCH cleaner than logs and far less ash is produced.
Propane usage was only about 300 gallons, down from 900 -1200 gallons pre-pellet stove.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
Just wondered.
I've been heating with wood for 45 years. We have a 125+ year old farm house & from late October to about April, that's the only heat we use. I go through 5-5.5 chords of wood a year at $110/chord. We have backup baseboard heat, but only use it when it's too warm to fire up the wood stove.
Wood can be a pita, but it's kept us plenty warm for years."It's hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."

Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
The best I can do for decent pellets per ton is $300.00 up $50.00 from 2 years ago when we 1st moved in. I have a Harmon insert it cost the previous homeowner a bit over $3200 new now the same model is running close to $5k. I would never buy another pellet stove again in a 2 level home with high ceilings it's just too expensive and pellets are getting more expensive and harder to find every year due to export.
My stove is a major PITA to clean as compared to the free standing type stoves it get's dirty fas and runs very inefficiently so I end up having to clean it once a week which takes about 90 minutes.

Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
My 1st winter in NEPA was 2 years ago 2013 we spent just shy of $4k heating from late October to mid March between pellets, oil, and electric. We keep the house at a constant 69 with the kids. Last spring I reinsinuated 2 rooms and there was almost no difference in out bills last winter. It's starting to take it's toll on my bank account and doesn't seem like it's worth paying for at this point, I am hoping this winter is more mild.
