It set me back $1299. I couldn't believe it was in there. Price did go up $100 due to all this madness, as with all firearms. But still no gouging, and I can't say enough good things about Ace Sporting Goods or the folks who work there.

You will have to excuse me but I don't know about pre madness. You are saying the price you paid is only say $100 more than pre hysteria? What made you choose this gun? Name?features? What sets it apart. I am just curious and doing some research on a possible purchase. Thanks!

its smith & wesson, how could you go wrong? Very reliable gun. I to have an m&p15 well.. I did... just the lower, barrel and BGC are S&W now... This gun seems to have all the right features many people would enjoy. But if you have the intentions of upgrading I'd recommend looking at a cheaper S&W ar-15 because those old parts aren't gonna do you much good when they're no longer on the gun.

Yes, the price was only $100 more than the pre hysteria price. I think S&W and COLT are the top 2 when it comes to AR-15's. I'm not saying other manufacturers don't make quality AR's; it's just my opinion(I do own others). The model is M&P15x, model #811008.. I was drawn to it because it is a S&W, has the S&W M&P marked quad rail. and flip-up rear sight. The finish on the gun is also black melonite, which is a protective finish and adds color to the gun(sexy as hell). It has a few more features than their base model Optics Ready Carbine (ORC), which are the sights and quad rail. Overall I think it's a quality gun for the price, especially given what people and some shops are selling them for. If you are interested in purchasing one you should go to each manufacturers website and read the details, specs/features and decide what you want or don't on yours. And always ask questions in the shop before you purchase(you can never have too much information). Hope this helped!

BTW: This weekend is Ruger Days at Ace Sporting Goods, and they will have hard to find guns (hence my S&W find). It even says it on their sign outside the store.

Totally agree RedTurbo! If one was looking to add upgrades that would entail taking off parts that are already installed, I would suggest S&W's ORC as it would provide a blank canvas to build and add whatever you want without breaking the bank on the gun alone, then having to fork out the $$$ for parts.
