I had one of those back in the late 70s. It was blue and shot suction cup-tipped darts. I've wanted a Beretta ever since.

Mine was orange. How could you not want one?

Bought a lot of old stock 7.65mm/.32 Auto ammo off of gunboards. Everything looks fine except I can’t find any info on the Romanian ammo, in the center of the photo. Might be corrosive, might be 1980 production. Anyone familiar with it? Maybe I’ll stop in and ask Mike Acri about it.

80 is most likely the year of production, and I would definitely treat it as corrosive. The Romanians made PPK copies for both their army and police.

That's why I only bought one mag from Numrich. I'd rather take a chance on that rather than Pro-Mag or Triple-K. Original Beretta mags are even pricier sadly. It'll remain a range toy unless I get a BM-59 and there's a local two-gun competition that allows .308 rifles so I can have a vintage Italian loadout.

The Helwan is the same pistol, I think. Are those mags more reasonable? There’s one on Gunbroker right now with a bid of $45. And there are several on eBay.

The mags are interchangable but helwan mags are just as expensive. You're also getting Egyptian quality for the price, which isn't quite the same as Italian.

Its a shame because while I consider the helwan to be one of the worst factory produced pistols out there they are still fun guns. Lack of mags really hinders their usefulness.

And you got me looking up helwans on gunbroker, which turned up this Auction. Clearly a case where the seller did not know what he had, but the buyers sure as hell did.

There’s a pack of three on eBay for $110. Under $40 each for a 50 year old weapon is not a bad price, IMO.
