Got this takedown a while ago and never took it out because I wanted to change it up a little. Been piecing it together with no real pressure to finish it, but after installing the new trigger and mounting the sling tonight, I think it's done just in time for an Independence Day range run. Nothing fancy, but I have less than $500 into everything and if it shoots minute-of-bunny, I'll be happy.

    --Brimstone Tier 2 trigger
    --Volquartzen bolt release
    --Volquartzen mag release
    --Volquartzen poly recoil buffer
    --Sig Romeo 5 red dot
    --Uncle Mike sling swivels
    --Old GI web sling

    Aye, it does!

And also because the circumference is less than the Pachmayr's, my trigger finger doesnt have to stretch so far. This gun was already a good shooter. Now it's going to be a true pleasure. Originally I wanted a combat grip with finger grooves, but I "settled" for this because of the price. And I think I'll actually be happier with it! I like the simplicity, and the contour makes up for having no finger grooves. It really fits my hand just about perfectly.

Musser's in Ephrata, he's had it sitting around for months. Said one of the guys at the shop tried it and had issues with rounds not going off. Don't bother going to get some though because I bought all he had.

You do shoot your guns don't you?
I was asking that you give your opinion after shooting it, because well I don't consider you a fanboi like some other posters 'round here and figured you'd give an honest opinion.

    But ok.

    Shot it today. (SHIELD 9mm)

Not a lot - maybe 100 rds of FMJ with two mags of steel case thrown in.

I wasn't focusing on accuracy as much as I was trying to concentrate on the "feel" of it while shooting.
(The targets were too filled with holes to accurately note how it was grouping)

The recoil wasn't as bad as I expected for having a narrow grip. Wife didn't care for it, but I had no issue with it.
The big white three dot sights work for my eyes. The first few mags were hitting pretty close to where I wanted them to go.

    The trigger...
Meh. The Glock trigger is certainly better and that didn't surprise me.
The hinged trigger isn't an issue at all, but I did find that my finger kept moving "into" the trigger guard with each shot. I'd start with the pad of my finger on the face of the trigger, but with each shot, my finger would slide in more until I was shooting with the trigger against the joint of my finger. Is that the fault of the trigger being too smooth or simply a matter of the shape of the grip in relation to the shape/size of my hand? Maybe both?

I'm hardly an expert on handgun triggers. I really wouldn't know what a good reset feels like vs an "OK" reset, but I suspect this would be closer to "OK" or below than good.

This was more or less a quick function test while out shooting a few other guns with my wife. (there were no issues with it functioning at all)
I'll want to go again and focus just on shooting this pistol.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase so far.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Sounds like once you get a little more time in with it you'll have a new favorite.

I've had some of that brass worm it's way in on range pickups and never had nothing but trouble with it. As soon as I see that headstamp it goes in the recycle bucket.
