Re: What did you buy yourself today (Photo thread)...
I've always felt the smaller shows produce the best deals.
The CZ came from a private seller with a table full of Colts.
It definitely didn't fit in with his obvious collecting habits, so I figured he took it on trade and made an offer, me having a C&R meant he didn't have to leave his table to wait for a transfer to be done.
The guy with all the reloading stuff just wanted to get out of reloading in his shop, I know he was selling at cost or below.
One could have had their pick of sub $500 ARs, half of which were private sellers.
Now don't get me wrong, there were most certainly sellers with grossly overpriced crap.
One of them I had the following interaction with.
I was carrying around a Romanian M69 .22 with a replacement magazine and that someone had removed the sights from and added a cheap scope.
One dealer who had piles of mags asked if I was selling, I said yep, or trade, he asked what I wanted for it and I told him $125.
He goes into how he's been in the business for years and he couldn't sell it for a profit for that, how he didn't want to insult me with an offer...
I said I'd do $75 in trade from his table.
Noooo, no money in it...
I turned and a guy standing there says did you say you wanted $125 for that?
I said $100 cash takes it.
He took it and that dealer huffed off.
It was pretty funny.

Been saving up for a FN Fiveseven, go to the gun shop to handle it and bring it home, but then in the corner with the rest of the 1911's it caught my eye. In all its glory was a Coonan .357 Automatic. I asked to hold it. It was love at first sight. It was in unfired condition with adjustable trijicon sights, 3 mags, 2 custom holsters, and 2 sets of grips. I took it to the range and put 100rds down the pipe with 0 issues.

I had to look this up and found a picture. It says that it shoots .38 also. Is that correct?

Yes it comes with a lighter spring you have to change to shoot the .38s. It also recommends in the book to break it in with .357 at least 250-300 rds

a belt, tensioner and full set of idler pulleys for the f-150 because.... it's an f-150. shop wanted over $360 for less.
figured, since it's down, replace them all. only one wasn't gritty. $140 and what'll end up being an hours work. There is no way to make it out alive...
