    Default 2 Gun Short Range Match RESULTS UP

    This is a 1 and/or 2 gun event. If you lack either a pistol/ rifle or lack a holster and or sling to be able to transition between firearms, you may shoot a single firearm per stage.


    There will be three separate squads with mandatory safety meetings @ 9:00 AM 12:15 PM and 3:00 PM

    Each participant must know how to safely operate their firearm(s) before attending.

    Limited slots available and pre-registration required (see bottom of this page)

    General Info:


    50 yard maximum range, stages include shooting while moving. All paper or non-steel reactive targets = rimfire is allowed.

    The exact CoF will differ slightly depending on your equipment. CoF will not need to be memorized in advance.

    Minimum 4 stages


    $10 for Oley club members $15 for non-members cash at event
    This is a friendly, casual competition, but we are not casual about safety.
    There will not be the opportunity to sight in before the event.
    Shooters move through the Course of Fire one at a time.
    Shooting positions may include standing, kneeling, prone, prone variations, and shooting while moving.
    We shoot rain or shine.
    This is a participant driven event: When not shooting, participants will be aiding in the timing, scoring, and taping of targets.



    Required Equipment:

    Eye and ear protection

    Rifle/Carbine
    Chamber Flag
    Rifle carry slings required if transitioning to pistol between sub-stages.
    Semi-automatic or bolt action allowed (bolt action not recommended)
    Centerfire or rimfire allowed.
    Magazine or clip fed (such as Garand, SKS) actions allowed.
    Tube fed actions are NOT allowed.
    Minimum of 3 magazines recommended


    Pistol
    Any pistol or revolver in centerfire or rimfire
    (with the exclusion of black powder)
    OWB or thigh holster only, no others permitted.
    Minimum of 2 magazines for each firearm.


    Chest rigs, vests, or mag holders are NOT required, but can be worn.
    SBRs and Suppressors allowed.
    Muzzle brakes allowed, but I won't smile at you.
    Extra staplers are appreciated too, if you have one.
    - Especially so if it rains before or during the event.
    Black Tie optional.

    Important Safety Procedural Information:

    No handling of any rifle or pistol when personnel are downrange.
    If carrying pistol in holster, firearm must be cleared before or upon arrival.
    You may clear at the range after notifying the RSO.
    - A clear pistol is empty chamber, mag removed, hammer down.
    Pistols shall only be loaded and/or removed from holster when on the firing line.
    If transporting a cased pistol, pistol shall remain in car until after safety briefing.

    Rifles must remain cased and in vehicles until after safety meeting and the squad is called to uncase and store rifles on rack in the staging area.
    Chamber flags required for all rifles not in use on the firing line, if you do not have one, one will be provided when uncasing .
    No handling of any rifle when personnel are downrange.
    No handling of rifles after placing on racks- Individual shooters will be called when it is their turn to shoot.
    Rifles will be recased when squad is finished.
    No tracers

    All targets are standard or partial IDPA. Penalties for misses/no shoots/ and failure to neutralize.

    Includes shooting from standing, kneeling, and while moving forward.

    Stage 1: Pistol only: Miniumum 20 rounds

    Engage targets while moving forward, then engage targets around corner.
    1 Required Mag change.

    Stage 2. Rifle only: Minimum 32 rounds

    Engage targets at 40+ and 25 yards from kneeling, then engage remaining targets under 25 yards while moving forward. Then engage targets around corner.
    1 Required Mag Change

    Stage 3 Transition / Blind Failure to Fire Drill: 3 rounds Rifle, 20 rounds pistol


    RO will hand shooter a rifle magazine with 1,2, or 3 rounds (the number unknown to shooter). Shooter begins stage with rifle and transitions to pistol after FTF.

    Stage 4. Pistol only: Minimum 20 rounds

    Targets ranging from 20 to 40 yards.




    BRING EXTRA AMMO, WE WILL REPEAT STAGES AS TIME ALLOWS

    Looks like it was a lot of fun, sorry I missed it.

    I thought I saw that the match was cancelled.

    Bummer, we had a great time - the August match was cancelled, not September's.

    Only 3 people signed up, so we ended up talking just as much as shooting - I used up around 130 rounds pistol and 120 rounds rifle but we only scored 4 stages for the record.

    We also swapped guns around a little and tried out irons vs red dots and suppressed vs non - suppressed.

    The only reason we didn't shoot even more was everyone just happened to be running low on ammo.

    I must have got the threads mixed up. I set aside some time for the event and wound up with nothing to do yesterday because I though it was cancelled (I did manage to keep myself busy with some painting though).

    Bummer

    Simple fix though, next time you post a match I'll subscribe to the thread. Unless I get an email notice saying otherwise, I'll show up at the club prepared for shooting.
