End to the Rut?

Researchers: An end to the deer rut?
By NewsCore
DENVER -- A new birth-control vaccine developed for deer prevents fertility for up to five years and reduces aggressive mating behaviors in a variety of animals, US scientists claimed.
A single shot of GonaCon, which was developed by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), prevents white-tailed deer from reproducing for up to five years and eliminates undesirable reproductive behavior such as chasing and fighting, scientists said Wednesday.
At least 150 people are killed annually in auto collisions with mating deer, and they cause more than $1 billion in property damage, the USDA's Dr. David Goldade told a meeting of the American Chemical Society in Denver.
Goldade said, "Other birth-control vaccines using porcine zona pellucida (PZP) also can prevent deer from producing offspring, but PZP-vaccinated animals still exhibit mating behaviors. That opens the door to dangerous situations in which males chase females across the highway."
He added that deer treated with the new vaccine do not even try to mate, as it blocks a biological signal that triggers reproductive behavior in them and other mammals -- including prairie dogs and wild horses.
It works in both males and females by inducing antibodies to the chemical messengers that alert sex hormones.
Maryland and New Jersey have approved the vaccine for use within their borders.

The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

They should use this "vaccine" on certain humans.

And do you know what the cost is. I roughly heard about 1200.00 a deer. What a joke.

Re: End to the Rut?
I'm stretching here but it could be for use on 'deer farms' where deer, elk and others are raised for the antlers, especially ones in velvet. There is a big Asian market for velvet. You would still get antler growth but not have to deal with the stress on the animals caused by the breeding season. Better health over winter equals better antlers in the spring.
Not sure why the government would be funding it though unless somebody needed a research project and funding to ensure they have a job.
But like I said, I'm just thinking out loud.

And 5 years from now we will read that it has caused birth defects from eating the meat of the animals. It is just another example of the waste of tax payers money to research something totally useless. How do the plan to treat the wild animals ? Tainted feed or pay sharp shooters with dart guns im curious.

Where's the outrage from PETA for fucking around with the natural reproductive cycle of a species? Oh yeah, they hate hunters, that's why they're silent.

Being hunter, I would love to find a buck(insert sarcasm here) just as stupid as a doe. Just stand there eat and have no sense about the predators around them....
