Things to do near Hawley with 1 year old?

Headed up to Lake Wallenpaupack for 5 days on Saturday and weather isn't looking ideal. Plan was for boating, hiking and swimming, which we'll definitely get some in, but calls for rain showers about every day we're there. Anyone know of things to do in the area for my wife, one year old and myself if we get washed out?

Promosed Land State Park has a lot of nice programs geared towards kids...Just up the road from Hawley

not alot one can really do with a 1 yr old. are you staying on the lake?

costa family fun park is east on rt 6. mini golf , batting cages and stuff like that but not geared toward a kid that small. i spent most of my time up there in the woods or at the lake when my kids were little.

there used to be a drive in movie on rt 6 west toward honesdale. you may want to make a road trip to scranton and visit steamtown , its an historic landmark with the NPS. and they have a mall as well for shopping/dining. hawley is nice to walk around in there is a park there and they may have a railroad as well.

bushkill falls is south on rt 402 to 209 or the ressica falls scout reservation is on 402 and a bit closer.

fwiw i have always been partial to the Pocono Pines, although i have not stayed there in a couple of years.

Late post, but if you're ever up in my neck of the woods and get bored, you could always come to my house for a BBQ. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old so the kids keep themselves busy. The wife doesn't mind if we talk shop or head to 183 to sling some brass also.

I was going to say the same thing. Promise land has a nice lake no power boats (except Mr. Ranger). The lake has one large beach and one small one. The small one IIRC is still closed on Pickrel point. The main beach also has a nice play ground. FYI alot of NY'ers drive over the mountain because its close. If you decide to go hiking wear alot of orange!!

Hey all, thanks for the added info. It did indeed rain the entire weekend. We hiked around the new trail along the stream/pipeline that comes from the lake in the rain (have a backpack with plastic cover for the baby). And went to Milford and toured Grey Towers mansion. Nice trip, was just great being able to sit on the porch and look out at the lake. Unfortunately didn't get to take my little girl for her first boat ride. But we're hitting Turks & Caicos next month, so barring any late season hurricanes, she'll get her chance then while daddy goes scuba diving.
