Philadelphia Firearms Training
My wife just took the NRA Basic Pistol I course from Philadelphia Firearms Training this past Saturday. I sat in on the class with her as support as she is very new to firearms and was very nervous. I thought the course was going to be very basic and that I'd be bored, but the instructor was excellent and I learned a lot of new things as well as things I've been doing wrong all along almost to the point I was embarrassed I was doing them.
It was an all-day course, as it should be, as one couldn't possibly teach all the material in a short time. The materials provided were excellent and the instructor was very professional and patient. His biggest concern was gun safety and explained the many ways shooters can be careless. My wife is a tiny woman who's afraid of her own shadow. This causes her to forget things and/or become careless, but the instructor had the patience of Job and stuck around afterward to help her out.
I was also very impressed with my wife for attending the class in the first place and that she was actually reviewing the material from the class last night. She grew up in an upscale suburb of Philadelphia and guns were never a part of her family's life whereas I started shooting when I was an eight year-old kid with a .22 bolt action rifle. I might just make a gun enthusiast out of her yet!

Re: Philadelphia Firearms Training
Thank you very much for the kind words lemko and Bhubb3rd. I try very hard at making new shooters feel comfortable while still stressing safety and I'm glad that it shines through! Our student demographics are very varied and off the cuff I usually have 2 out of 10 women with roughly 50% of students having some level of previous firearms experience. Thanks again!

Re: Philadelphia Firearms Training
This class would satisfy the Florida training requirement, right?

Re: Philadelphia Firearms Training
Yes, the Basic Pistol course absolutely meets the Florida requirements. I actually provide the packet at no additional charge because many of my students are interested in concealed carry or have a current PA LTCF. Feel free to visit my website at http://www.philadelphiafirearmstraining.com or contact me by phone at 1-215-880-9648 if you have any questions or if I can be of additional assistance in navigating the Florida Non Resident Concealed Carry Application process.
Hoping you are safe and well,
Jose

Re: Philadelphia Firearms Training
I just took PFT's NRA Basic Pistol class, which was taught over at "The Gun Range" (which is the new range where Colosimo's used to be). Totally blew me away. This class was awesome. Instructor is an insanely good teacher.
