Re: Older Browning Rifles.
I have an older model Browning rifle chambered in .243. I inherited it from my grandfather years ago. It has been a faithful rifle and I have continued to use it for hunting purposes. I have recently been trying to track the exact lineage of this rifle but my efforts are proving fruitless...until I stumbled across this thread. Any input from the experts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Older Browning Rifles.
Helo.
I neef help.I inherit 15 years ago from grandpa a Safari case from Albercrombie and Fitch that has two Belgium made rifles. One is a 30-06 and the other a 22. I think they were purchased in the 60's. They are lke new and never fired. They got their respective blue envelope manuals.
I was offered $5,000 for them, but I dont know what they are worth.
I am having trouble dating them.
The 22 serial is 691 20961. The mauser is 45289. The 30-06 is darker wood than the 22.
Help please!!!

Re: Older Browning Rifles.
No way of knowing what the firearms are without pictures. The serial numbers are not typical Browning numbers. The Browning literature with the guns was usually packaged in a black envelope with gold printing.
No idea what you have.

Re: Older Browning Rifles.
Hello Jeff.
I went back and checked my Safari Case.
The envelopes are in fact black with gold lettering.
The 30-06 # is 8L 49289.
The 22 is # 69T 20961.
Both say made in Belgium.
The 22 says also Browning Arms Co.St Luis Mo
& Montral PQ. Made in Belgium.
Hope you can help.
Thanks.

Re: Older Browning Rifles.
Hector, I cannot tell anything from the photo. The serial number fro the .30-06 indicates a Safari Grade rifle made in 1968. If it was new in the box top price would be somewhere around $1600. max.
The .22 Serial number indicates a 1969 manufacture. Grade I, Grade II, and Grade III all had the same letter T in the number. If the rifle is blued it is a grade I, if it has a grey receiver with lightly engraved figures it is a Grade II, Grade II is heavily and deeply engraved on the receiver. If it is a Grade I and was new in the box price would be around $1000.00. Grade II and Grade III would be more.
If both rifles are blued and you have an offer of $5000.00 GRAB IT!!
Without being seen neither is anything special. (unless the .22 is a Grade III).

Re: Older Browning Rifles.
Just inherited my fathers rifles. I remember when he purchased this one. I believe it was 1959. It is a Browning Belgium Safari Winchester 270, serial number L325. Could you tell me if I am correct on the year of this rifle and what its value might be. It is in 95% condition.

Re: Older Browning Rifles.
The serial # indicates 1959 as the year of manufacture. As a matter of fact it was the 325 gun off the line.
Value at 95% would be about $1100-1300.
