    Default Savage edge/axis

Is it possible to change this stock trigger for the accutrigger instead of paying $!50 or more for the model with the accutrigger?

There are two companies that make aftermarket drop in triggers. Timney is one but it retails for $115 or so. That's a third the price of the gun. The other one I think is rifle basix but not 100% sure. An accutrigger will not fit the axis/edge.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Not without modifying the trigger or action to they will fit.

However, the good news is that you can lighten the trigger and adjust the sear engagement yourself rather easily to end up with a good crisp trigger at a reasonably light weight (~3-3.5 pounds) for hunting.

The above links should provide somewhere to start.
    All the best.

this very issue was just recently discussed under the gunsmithing section. you may want to look there as well. personally i would spend the extra and get the accu trigger. love mine in my model 10 by the way. also don,t forget any alterations to the trigger voids your warranty from savage. this is stated on there web site. i would rather keep the warranty myself than start playing around with a new gun. buying the gun and dropping in a aftermarket trigger is going to cost you more than getting the gun with the accu trigger in it. just my two cents worth, good luck and happy shooting, red dog.
