When the loaning of guns happens between parties that reside in different states - the guns can only be loaned for sporting purposes. The ATF's limited definition of "sporting purposes" only includes hunting and some sanctioned shooting events. ...this is federal law. Persons of different states cannot loan guns just to carry, only for sporting purposes.
