Norinco 1911
Just brought it home today! Found it at Quinby's in Dublin. I just finished giving it a good cleaning, tomorrow we'll see how it runs.

Re: Norinco 1911
The owner of Wicen's has one of these that shot surprisingly well. He put a whole bunch of Wilson Combat internals into it and now it lives on his hip.
The M1. Smackin' the bastards since 1932.

Re: Norinco 1911
Norincos are great 1911s, excellent base guns. I'm sure this thing will shoot just fine tomorrow.

Re: Norinco 1911
Ugghh... with any LUCK, it'll run AWAY!
Bought one of those lemons new in February '93 - it began jamming on the SECOND mag of HARDBALL. Couldn't trade away that POS fast enough!!!
Uhhh... all the best, though!

Re: Norinco 1911
"Projects" are what I am thinking here. I'm not sure of what all I should do to it, though. What internals I should swap. I do want an extended beavertail, new trigger, and new hammer, for sure. Grips will be a definite, likely VZ grips. I do want to have it re-finished when it's all done, I'm thinking of Brian, one of the boardies here, his refinishing business up in Easton, possibly a tigerstripes paint scheme.
While I have never really done gunsmithing, and I've owned quite a few 1911's, I'd like to learn more about this pistol, which is another reason I bought this Norinco. What would a good book be for guiding, pictures, basic smithing etc?Last edited by crlovel; August 20th, 2011 at 08:06 PM.

Re: Norinco 1911
Have had one for years. Very hard steel and works beautifully with regular hard ball. Aside from a Hafsada, the only 1911 0.45 I own, though I do have a significant number of other platforms in 0.45. It is accurate but not a target pistol. I have read a number of times over the years that these have been used as the basis for competition pistols due to the strength of their steel. Enjoy! Dave_n

Re: Norinco 1911
Find a copy of Jerry Kuhnhausen's book called "The U.S. M1911/1911A1 Pistols
A shop Manual"
I have a copy here you can take a look at- Don't sink another penny into that piece of Chinese mystery metal until you read the book (unless it's for some steel leader and a #6 shark hook). If you want to do some mods on it, stop by the shop and I'll help you out with it.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter
