Wilson Combat Build
Has anyone ever built a wilson combat 1911 piece by piece? and would it save any money?

Re: Wilson Combat Build
I doubt it, I don't think Wilson even offers individual slides and frames. I could be wrong though.

Re: Wilson Combat Build
Last time I looked at WC parts, the frame and slide kit was $900, alone. No internals came with it. Little parts like slide locks and barrel bushings are around $40. Then you got your springs, barrel, trigger assembly, grip safety parts, etc. If you added everything up, I would venture to say close to $2000 just for all of the parts. No way you can buy the parts and assemble yourself for half of that.
WC has brand new models for around $2500 as a base price, but the guarantee comes with the base model, even. If my memory serves me correctly, WC guarantees 1" groups at 25 yds with the base model.Last edited by harold63; August 20th, 2011 at 07:42 PM.

Re: Wilson Combat Build
Have you considered buying a Regent or an equivalent and putting WC internals in that?

Re: Wilson Combat Build
Dude, I promise to shut up after this; you do not have to buy WC to get a quality 1911. There are a number of quality 1911's out there for $1000 dollars, or less. I feel like I am fairly critical and I would love to have the new SR 1911. Very good gun people rate this gun pretty high, and it is around $700. In some of the tests I read on it, it shot less than 2" at 25 yds. with certain brands of ammo, and unless you are a decent bullseye shooter, that is damn good for any pistol. JMHO. As promised, I'll chill, now.

Re: Wilson Combat Build
Th Wilson frame and slide kits are $427.46 (on sale now). http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Full-Siz...ctinfo/440CFK/
If you have experience building 1911's, that the ticket. If not,, it can be a daunting task. You will have to have rear sight cut made in the slide.
Myself, I chose to have one of their skilled craftsmen build mine.George,
So many guns, so little money.
