Angry Ever wonder why women and children are not more into shooting?

My answer is simple who wants to be around a bunch of tough talking , bad attiude "macho" jerks , If we are to preseve the second amendment those of you who are like that have to take it down a notch and make it enjoyable to shoot. I love shooting have been doing it half my life and ran into more bad then good. love the sport luke warm on the people , shooting should be about two things first and most important is safety , second should be fun. I hear alot about how "I kicked in doors for 20 years" well good for you but shooting is not all about hunting and killing there is an aspect of fun and skill in it. I am not the best shooter but when I am out at a match I gauarentee I am having more fun then 90% of you out there. There is a shooting culture that is not being adressed of the people who are just in it to have fun , not hunters not trained leo's. What most of you old mean guys don't understand is YOU ARE killing the second amendment that you hold so dear. Why does it all have to be about firefights , zombies , and hunting? What happened to shooting for the sake of shooting. BTW I am not against hunting I am against me hunting.

Walk into a retail store, do they have nerf guns and barbies in the same aisle?

Probably not, although I'm sure at least a few do, but I think you get my point, at least in part.

My shooting experiences have been, for the most part, very good. But this thread isn't about me, it's about you.

Clearly something has happened, either once or repeatedly, at a range done by an old mean man that has you a bit ticked. If I had to bet I'd say it happened recently given your sudden desire to post, perhaps last night even.

My recommendation? Find somewhere else to shoot, and a different crowd to shoot with.

this answer could be so complex that it defies description.

first there is the whole macho thing and far too many guys take their girlfriend to the range ostensibly to teach them to shoot but they really just want to show off. that doesnt create a new shooter.

also most girls/women dont like noise and stink.

there are about 10000 more aspects to this but my arthritis is kicking up and i dont want to type.

No it didn't happen on the range it happened here

most smart people don't go raising hell at people with loaded firearms in their hand but yes a gun club I belong to has me ticked too , and I have walked into many a gun shop to find it littered with an over abunance of nazi stuff , mounted animals everywhere , and religious stuff. I am a video gamer also and if you anything about that the wii brought many non gamers to video games therefore increasing the market and their market share , the same has to be done with shooting. And uspsa shooters are some of the best people I have met.

The 2nd has survived for over 230 years, what makes you think it is going anywhere.

And have you ever been to a little league game? Brutal, eh, ... and the kids still play.

While out at the range, putting a ragged hole in one paper after another, I noticed the wildflowers, with bees buzzing about them, doing what nature had intended. I pointed this out to little Johnny, then told him, “We got to keep practicing, cuz nature will eventually rain zombies on our head, and we must be prepared!”.

I seem to not have had your negative experiences. My wife and I have taken 8 new people shooting. 3 were under 14 years old. 4 male, 4 female. All but one wanted to go shooting again. The one that did not like it was a man. The women and kids seemed to enjoy it the most.

I think the reason women and children are not more into shooting is no one has taken them yet.

I think the best way to get them into shooting is to have them take it easy 1st go round .. Shoot the .22 all day long and they have fun .. The first time I took my wife, I had her shoot the .40 cal... Too much Boom for her liking. She didnt want to shoot anymore .. After time I asked her to come back up and shoot and she shot the .22 for hours and wanted to go again .. have to make it fun for them .......

I really don't know what you are looking for.

My wife and kids have been shooting with me for many many years. The wife goes to the gun shop with me every week. My youngest boys have been stopping into some gun shops, looking to add to what I have already given them. Th oldest will call to ask when I am going shooting again.

Do I go out of my way to take new people to the range? Not really.

Ever see how Disney portrays the guys with guns? ..and seriously dude, my kids LOVE shooting zombies. How dare you.

That aside, I tend to agree with you about there being quite a few "gun people" who are annoying. Too many that I run into try to come across as though they know everything firearm related and everyone else is a window licker. Fortunately for me, the guys I shoot with are not such people.
