    Default Seattle Citizens Arrest

An IT geek who works at the video game company that makes Halo captured a fleeing shooter in Seattle. He stopped at an ATM and two men started shooting at each other (probable drug deal). One was wounded and the other started running only to find a gun sticking in his face. When the cops got there the perp was handcuffed, searched and sitting on the curb.

I think the handcuffs may have been a bit much but good on him.

Good for him. He did the right thing. These articles deserve national attention.

im really surprised that the cops didnt beat up the citizen for having a gun and then arrest him for illegally restraining a person with handcuffs.

It wasnt Philadelphia. Why are you suprised?

Also, it wasn't an illegal restraint. It was perfectly legal. Such reactions to crimes should be encouraged.

If you want to carry handcuffs i suggest getting training first and foremost. I believe PSP give free classes. But i could be wrong with that. Also my personal preference in regards to what style handcuffs would definitely be hinged. At work we used to have two different styles, one had the old fashioned chain link. The other was hinged. With the hinge, one cannot rotate their hands around to operate a handcuff key and get out. It is almost impossible to get out of those EVEN IF you have a key so long as they are put on properly. Thus the need for training. I don't think its a bad idea to carry handcuffs in your day to day activities. If any of you guys remember the beating two black women gave to a white girl, that was my motivation to carry handcuffs outside of work, so i could deal with one at a time

    Default Cuffed during Citizens Arrest

Zip-ties are invisible when carried properly.

OK I can't believe I am going to ask this, but what is the proper way to carry zip ties, I must know!
